Initial Taste - Earth, not at all bitter with a little bit of agave-like sweetness, but different than tequila. Body - Medium Finish - A bit of pleasant alcohol burn and a tiny bit of sweetness. Overall a very enjoyable drink for the price point of $25. The bottle is simple yet very cool as well. I'd recommend this to someone looking for a new hard liquor. ]]> Tue, 17 Jan 2012 19:29:39 +0000 <![CDATA[Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1890 https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1890 I am a huge aficionado of tequila and mescal but until recently I was totally ignorant of the flavors of sotol. On my way back from a tour in Iraq I stopped at a local liquor store in El Paso, Texas. I picked up the bottle thinking it was regular tequila. I drove to Phoenix to visit my family and of course I took the bottle with me. At a party they were having in my honor I opened this bottle of magical deliciousness. I immediately read the bottle and noticed the word "Sotol". I asked my dad about it, and since our family is from Ascension, Chihuahua my dad explained to me that sotol was the drink of Chihuahua. I have spent many years in our town and had never known this. It has truly been a delightful discovery. It has made me proud to know that the state I come from makes such a great drink! ]]> Fri, 25 Mar 2011 02:05:20 +0000 <![CDATA[Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1777 https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1777 Very smooth, but then it's only 38% ALC. My friends have tried it up against $50 bottles of Anejo's tequilas, and they say this Sotol is in that league. ]]> Sat, 01 Jan 2011 19:29:29 +0000 <![CDATA[Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=657 https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=657 It's not your fathers "tequila". this is the most complex taste. It starts of very smooth, then a creamy chocolate caramel flavor and then finishes off with a peppery bite. Very flavorful, something most of todays "tequilas" are sadly lacking! I'm looking forward to trying the H5 extra anjeo ]]> Wed, 18 Jun 2008 13:57:08 +0000 <![CDATA[Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=425 https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=425 Hacienda de Chihuahua Sotol Reposado. This sotol is light amber in color with long legs. The nose is slightly woody with some traces of alcohol, chemicals, & rather light in character. The initial taste is warm spice with a nice glowing sensation & slightly nutty. The body is medium with some spicy wood carrying over & a nutty aftertaste. This reposado has a nice open finish, encompassing the entire mouth, & ending with a hint of vanilla. HDC reposado is smooth but not quite as smooth as the plata which surprised me. Taking all things into consideration especially the $, this is a great way to experience a different, relative of tequila, Mexican spirit & not spend nearly as much dinero! ]]> Fri, 21 Dec 2007 14:37:44 +0000 <![CDATA[Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=25 https://tequila.net/sotol-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=25 One of the best buys. At $25, retail, it is a true gem in a high priced market. Floral on the palate and nose. Great herb and spice finish that is balanced out buy a unique alcohol burn. ]]> Sat, 03 Feb 2007 15:51:13 +0000
