For one thing, it is in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and that says it all when it comes to tequila. In 2008 on my first trip, Linda and I stopped at the restaurant but it was closed - a Monday, I believe. On the most recent trip, June, 2012 we made reservations for a Wednesday night. When you enter the restaurant there is a glass wall of tequila to greet you. After settling in at our table (4 people) I realized this restaurant belonged in Manhattan. Our waiter was Marlon - he was born in Houston and his mother named him after Marlon Brando. Absolutely the best waiter I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He walked my friend, Philip, and I through the tequila menu. We sampled several brands in flights. Then my eye caught something I had been looking for since last summer - Sotol; and not just Sotol but Bacanora and Raicilla as well. I concocted a flight of these three amazing spirits. They are fantastically different from tequila. The food was amazing and after dinner, Marlon invited our group to the club upstairs. It was New York all the way with music videos in Spanish and English - and a bar with about 300 tequilas. An outdoor patio seemed popular with the locals (who were much better dressed than us) but we did not want to linger too far from the amazing bar. Finally, before we left - Marlon gave us each a menu which is in the form of agave leafs spread out from a single point. The restaurant is not cheap for Mexico but why should it be - it feels like you are in New York. Go if you can.

This is high end gourmet Mexican food, hot, fresh and lots of it. I had the seafood burrito, and my wife had a salmon filet.
The portions were very big, and neither of us could finish our meals.
The tequila selection was massive; there wasn't a brand that I could think of that they didn't have. When I was admiring the selection, they immediately tried to up sell me with the Herradura Selection Suprema. Gil, our waiter was very knowledgeable and informative with all the selection of tequila that they had.

Our food, a glass of Casta Rep, 2 for 1 margaritas, and tip was 1,000 pesos for lunch.

I have spent lots (and lots) of time in bars over the years, and I have not felt so at home as I do here. I have been coming to Sayulita since 2000, and Mark Albert and Dora actually hosted my Wedding rehearsal dinner in their old location, and the amazing food at Sayulita Fish Taco made a mark on all the guests, and my Wife and I. I am a Mango salsa and Shoebox burrito guy, but there is something in the menu for all types. In 2006 after many more vacations in Sayulita, we moved here, and SFT has been a regular dining spot and place to get away from the hustle of high season (sometimes, since it is a very popular restaurant). Early this year, those of my ilk were blessed with the opening of the S.F.T. Tequila Bar - a wide selection of Tequilas and Mezcals, plus an awesome staff (Miguel, you rule) make for a great experience for the new comer or a seasoned pro. You can for a small price buy a "rating book" and join the SFT Tequila Squad. With the book, you can track your drinks, rate them, and make notes. Mark keeps these all on hand for you, for your next visit. The fact that the size of the bar is small, is great and cozy. I find my fave time to drink there is around 3pm, for sometimes the night gets crowded and you can lose some of the intimacy. Luckily, I love to drink during the day. Next time you are in Mexico, make a straight line to the Sayulita and the S.F.T. Tequila Bar.

The new bar just opened in Dec 08 and has over 200+ bottles. The selection is broad; blancos, reposados, anejos, mezcals and specialty tequilas. Owner Mark Alberto and bartender Miguel put a lot of effort into making the small bar feel warm, friendly and suave... the perfect spot to sip your favorite tequila. And while it is centrally located on the plaza, it's a also a perfect spot to escape the hustle and noise of downtown Sayulita. Low lighting and a tranquilo vibe make it more suited for couples than for frat dudes on spring break. And here's a very cool and unique feature of this bar: if you plan to visit regularly, a few pesos buys you a Tequila Bar membership card. On this, note your own reviews and comments for each new tequila you try. This will come in handy on your 3rd or 4th visit and want to remember your new favorites. They keep your card on file, and await your return.

The food was amazing ( I had a lamb roast, and my fiance had the grilled salmon). Extremely courteous staff. Too bad there's not one in Los Angeles. I miss it already!

Also, they have a kids playroom, so the kids can go nuts while you enjoy your meal!

Food was good, Tequila selection was large and the pricing fair. There is a night club attached for after dinner drinks and dancing.
