The street tacos, for which it is famous, are to die for. The chorizo y huevo, carnitas, and al pastor are just amazing. The ambiance is big (obviously) on sugar skulls but manages to feel natural and not touristy. Almost every tequila you could think of. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Huge selection of tequila, but come for the food. It is truly awesome. The Carnitas en Chili Verde is a meal unto itself. The Al Pastor and Pescado tacos are some of the best I've ever had. I make up excuses to stop by.

Chef/owner Mike has this fine establishment operating on all cylinders! The tequila selection is second to none in the state, and the food is consistently great! In my opinion, it is this same consistency and quality that make The Copper Canyon successful. You can bet that each and every time you will be attended to by an experienced and knowledgeable server. You will recieve a fresh hand made 100% de agave margarita, as well as top notch cuisine. The pasilla crusted NY sirloin is amazing and the panko crusted lump crab cake is still...to this day...the very best I have ever tasted...HANDS DOWN!

It is always crowded early but less so later and on weekends when many patrons are at home in the suburbs. Linda and I go to D.C. once or twice a year to visit the wide array of good restaurants available there. This is one place we never miss even though we know it is going to be busy and crowded. It's also only two blocks from the Verizon Center so if there is an event, it can be even more hectic. The food is incredible with extreme attention to detail; specialties from Michoacan, Puebla, Oaxaca and Mexico City. The decor is diverse from Day of the Dead to Oaxacan alebrijes. The tequila selection is a bit thin for someone from west of the Mississippi, but not at all bad for this part of the country. Here - I had perhaps one of my favorite flights of tequila; Chinaco anejo, Chinaco Negro extra anejo and Chinaco Emperator anejo. This was my only time to taste the Emperator. The tequila manager came over and said no one had ever asked for a flight like this at the restaurant before. Basically, she gave me the Emperator free; that made it even sweeter. All tequila was poured from the bottles at the table which was not close to the bar; very professional and extremely attentive. And - after your experience here, you can walk down to the National Mall and see the Capitol, the Smithsonian, the Washington Monument and, of course, the White House.

We were looking for a change from our regular tequila bar and this one was close enough so we decided to give it a shot. WOW. That was our first impression as we walked in the door and the wows continued throughout the evening. The decor of the place was modern and inviting. We chose to sit at the bar and were at once greeted by Rob and George they offered us the drink menu (2nd wow) and offered suggestions. Once we settled in, Mike, one of the managers stopped by and welcomed us and made feel important. I mention this because at our regular tequila bar, which we have frequented quite regularly for close to 2 years we have never been welcomed like this. The owner is even there many of the times we are there and he has yet to come over and introduce himself. We placed our food order; I chose the DUCK CARNITAS tacos and my wife chose the BANANA LEAF WRAPPED SCOTTISH SALMON. (3rd wow) The food was prepared well and the presentation was 5 star worthy. Flavors were amazing (duck I thought may have been a bit dry but still flavorful)After dinner we were feeling a bit adventurous, perhaps because of the margaritas we were enjoying. They have on tap chilled pineapple, chipotle infused Partida silver tequila. They serve this in one of their drinks Dolce Infuego but they also serve it straight up in a miniature champagne glass for sipping. (4th wow) This well could have been the highlight of our visit. A slightly smokey background aroma along with the smell of sweet pineapple. The flavor profile was absolutely amazing. You would never know you were drinking tequila. You'll just have to try it yourself when you visit there. All in all our evening was one we will not soon forget. It is a bit on the $$$ side, however, if you are looking for a new experience filled with great atmosphere, incredible tasting food and margaritas made fresh with out a mix, you will not mind dropping a bit of coin. We have been back a few more times and have had similar experiences.

I found Luna just as they opened the doors about 1 year ago and I keep coming back. The food is Old School Mexican with a modern twist and it's great. They make the best Mole' I've had in years. My wife and I have visited here more than 10 times eating at the bar and in the dining room and have never been disappointed by the food or service. The food prices range from $10 to $30, a good value for any Mexican Restaurant.

The Tequila selection is amazing. I would guess 50 to 100 different selections. the owners are well versed in Agave Spirits and they share their knowledge with the staff. On several occasions one of the staff or owners will make a recommendation on a Tequila I haven't tried and they hit a home run every time. And yes they make killer Margaritas.

The smaller selection, I could live with (after all, there's no way that I could sample even 30 brands), but with that smaller selection came a higher price, and no specials like Maria's Flight of 3 Tequilas for $14. My biggest disappointment was when I ordered a Corralejo Reposado, and the server didn't know what it was, whereas at Maria's, even though there was a 30 minute wait for a table, the server not only took the time to explain the differences between Blancos and Reposados and Anejos, he also provided his favorite choices at my request. Because Juan Jaime's is in my neighborhood, I took a friend, and expected our visit to be an occasion. But between the overpriced (but good) food and the shaky service, I won't become a regular.

Their tequila list is pretty decent although you're not going to find anything out of the ordinary. The food is pretty good too.

For a downtown bar, it's one of my favorite joints. Most visitors here don't come for the tequila, so be prepared for the "vodka Redbull" and "Bud Lite" crowd if you go on the weekend. Other than that, it's a fun place. They usually have some luchador movies playing on the TVs which adds to the ambiance.

Another note: don't expect to get great advice from the bartenders. After having various conversations with the guys behind the bar, I've usually found them to be a) wrong, b) confused, or c) not very big fans of tequila. My advice is just to grab the menu and start picking out a juice you've never had before.

If you go on a Monday, I'll come say hi. You'll probably be the only other one there drinking straight tequila out of a snifter.

Yes that does sound $$$$$$, but I get double shot of aneo and add G M to top and the pours where free pours! Fantasic! The only food I have had there is their pizza by the slice, I'm from NY, Buffalo and the pizza was awesome, they have fresh basil, sun dried tomatoes, basically anything you want

The moment you come down the stairs you enter an upscale and comfortable library like setting, as the walls are lined with beautiful wooden lockers that contain countless handcrafted tequilas on display. Scattered throughout this swanky atmosphere, are many dark leather couches so you can almost kick back to unwind and relax, as this bar knows how to set the stage to experience high end tequilas and cocktails.

The warmth of this establishment is mirrored by the management, bartenders and staff as they are almost more inviting than the atmosphere itself. You will be well taken care of as they work with you to recommend tequilas and mixed drinks based on questions to understand what flavors you enjoy as well as the mood you are in. I have never experienced anything like this and I’m no amateur when it comes to the finer tequilas or mixing a fine drink. Included in this experience is a “tequila librarian” named Courtenay Greenleaf, which I would say should be referred to as a tequila sommelier. Her in-depth knowledge of the agave spirit, from the harvest, through all the various production methods, is quite impressive.

This place is a “must see” as it will not disappoint. My only fear is that it will get too crowded to enjoy as I am seeing it gain in popularity. Don’t forget to order some of the fine Latin Asian appetizers and other fusion cuisine items on their menu that is available at the bar as well as upstairs at Zengos hit restaurant, as well.

Shipping it in makes it even more expensive, and it's not a winning combination. All the major brands are covered, as well as a few smaller brands that they can get in Chicago at the sister bar, and transfer down. The bar manager Juan knows his tequilas, and distributes a nice pour.

Food here is very good, it's a bit upscale, mostly authentic Mexican. The fish taco's and the shrimp enchiladas are personal favorites on the menu. Prices are very reasonable for dinner, and happy hour the fish taco's are a buck a piece.

Building isn't much from the outside, but inside the ambiance is very well done.

This places frustrates me. It has so much going for it, but doesn't quite ever pull it off.

The selection is probably the second-best in town (after Trébol), and while some of the more interesting selections are often out of stock, that's likely the result of our screwy state-controlled liquor system, so I don't blame Matador for that.

The ambiance is also cool - if a bit Disney-ish. The wood and iron fixtures are beautiful and the Southwest motif more tastefully done that it could have been.

The food is OK, but just OK considering how many incredible restaurants we're lucky to have in Portland.

Prices are fair - especially on the tequila and in particular their flights. The extra-añejo flight is a great bargain and recommended before you drop the kind of coin bottles of 1942 et al require.

The real shortcoming of this place, and it's huge, is the tequila knowledge and service. They have revolving door-like staff turnover, and the waitstaff never seem very experienced. Any intelligent question about the agave spirits will go unanswered, accompanied by attitude as though they actually gave you a good answer. In the past, I have had to explain and show to a bartender what the NOM number is, what a mixto is (their well is mixto and their "Cadillac" margarita is made with Hornitos), and to a waitress that in fact NOT all tequila is from Tequila. On one recent visit, they couldn't tell my friend which of the 3 tequilas in his flight were which. They were unapologetic, didn't offer to replace it and seemed generally confused about why he would care.

Sadly, it is still one of our only tequila options in town. Most nights, I'd rather stay home. Or drink wine.

Wausau, Wisconsin is certainly not where we would have expected to find one of the best Mexican restaurants around. The food is all freshly prepared and well presented by some of the most courteous and knowledgeble wait staff we have experienced anywhere. The selection is authentic "Mexican" fare and is moderately priced. Portions are very adequate and the variety of salsas offered is vast, including my favorite chili morita. The carnitas served with sweet onions, warm tortillas, cilantro and warm green sauce is outstanding. Another favorite is the chimichanga stuffed with grilled shrimp, onions, tomatoes and peppers which is covered with an excellent light cheese sauce. It is served with rice, lettuce and pico de gallo. A side of freshly made guacamole is also a nice addition.

Considering the location is in a small strip mall, the ambiance is very good. When it is very busy the open ceiling and attached bar can result in a less than quiet dining experience but it is not bad nor does it distract from the meal. They offer outdoor seating when the weather is cooperative.

We have been back literally dozens of times and have never been disappointed. And if something is not what you expect, we know you can tell them about it and you will be satisfied. Their tequila selection is hard to match anywhere and the margaritas are outstanding with "twofers" frequently offered.
You need not be in Mexico or the Southwest to enjoy fine Mexican fare. And did I mention the staff? Again, sure I did and I will say it once more "they are outstanding!!"
