A lot of flavor, very smooth and can be found for under $20. Aroma: A nice nose full of agave, vanilla and baking spices (nutmeg, cinnamon). Initial Taste: A great entry with sweetness from agave and fruit/berry flavors. Body: It's on the thinner side, but the spicier notes mix in nicely to make a very nice sweet and complex flavor with the agave and fruit. Finish: A nice finish with the spice and medium heat, but nothing memorable. A nice ending to a very nice tequila. At $20 a bottle from Mission, my expectations weren't through the roof, but I was surprised nicely by this anejo. It can hold it's own with more expensive brands for sure. A nice value for a tequila that could be an every day sipper. ]]> Tue, 20 Mar 2012 23:13:54 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1363 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1363 I drank a bottle of El Charro AƱejo over the corse f three weeks in a cognac snifter. Over all, this Tequila is just average. It's nose had too much alcohol burn that ended up hiding most of the scent. The Agave was present but subdued into a boring hue of oak. The body lacked any real viscosity. The flavor was over powered by the wood barrels it was kept in. The finish was boring and had to much burn. Over all, this tequila is very average and too expensive for the experience it yields. ]]> Mon, 08 Feb 2010 05:59:00 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1316 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1316 I love the nose of this anejo! It reminded me of those little squares of caramel and also had a hint of fruit after opening up a little bit. This has a nice entry with a sweet butterscotch/caramel flavor. Not incredibly complex, but just a nice, very smooth sipping anejo with the prominent features being a butterscotch flavor, good presence of the agave even though it sips almost like an extra anejo. Though it does have a softened, more aged flavor, it isn't overly oaky. The finish is medium in duration with just a very tiny bite at the back of my throat... just enough to remind me it's still tequila. A very classy and simple presentation with the bottle. ]]> Thu, 17 Dec 2009 03:17:23 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1107 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1107 Tasted out of a snifter. This is a very good anejo for the price. El Charro is a very consistent line, in my opinion. I highly recommend this anejo to tequila and non tequila drinkers alike. Aroma: A fruity aroma consisting of berry and cinnamon. Initial Taste: An oily mouth feel, with a sweet entry and an ever so slight bitterness. Fruit was the first taste I detected. Body: A very nice body consisting of fruit (berry), agave, slight carmel, floral, and spices. Finish: A sweet semi-heated finish of medium duration with a fruity cinnamon lingering. ]]> Tue, 28 Apr 2009 15:33:37 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=204 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=204 El Charro Anejo NOM 1460 Tasted 2/16/07. The tequila is a golden brown color and has intense fruit and earth aromas. Once you get past the intensity of the nose, you can smell moderate notes of caramel and smoke. On the tip of the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft but yet has a full intensity of taste and feels heavy and oily in the mouth. While the tequila has a low sweetness, it is actually has no bitterness. Now onto flavor. The flavor has intense agave, and floral attributes which are followed by moderate fruit and mild vanilla, smoke, earth, and caramel. The tequilas finish is a long duration of flavor followed by a numbing alcohol feeling. Overall, I rated this tequila at the A/A- level. ]]> Mon, 28 May 2007 04:58:50 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=49 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=49 El Charro Anejo is a deep golden color, woody nose with hints of cinnamon and fruit. The initial taste is a sweet and fruity blast through the mouth, with a complex body, sharp alcohol turning to wood and spice with citrus undertones. The finish mellows and turns into a long spicy cinnamon aftertaste with a slight heat in the mouth. ]]> Sun, 04 Mar 2007 22:50:21 +0000
