It has a great nose, a rich taste, a smooth warm body and a nice finish. It flourishes in the body and it is clean in the end. I am not sure why everyone keeps referring to the price; it's as if some seem unable to enjoy the tequila for its excellent characteristics, as if the low price somehow makes it inferior. Since everyone seems hung up on price, let's address that issue. It is, hands down, the best $20.00 bottle of Anejo you'll ever buy, this side of the Rio Grande. Furthermore it embarrasses many, many $35.00 - $75.00 bottles who frankly ought to pack it in if they can't offer something exclusive at that price. I've had lots of bottles in that price range (and continue to enjoy a few) that are put to shame by this little $20.00 bottle of tequila. I'd blind taste this against the the top ten most popular (and the more expensive in the price range I mentioned) anejos, any day, and I'd expect Puerto Vallerta to come in 3rd or 4th on average. Don Pilar is better (possibly the best IMO), you can name the two obvious others; the rest can get in line behind Puerto Vallerta Anejo. ]]> Sun, 20 Sep 2009 02:11:02 +0000 <![CDATA[Puerto Vallarta Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=990 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=990 Most of the time I just love a tequila that comes form Los Altos because the Agave grown up there is special, it gives the distillate tremendous flavor because it is so high in sugar content. I was really disappointed when I tasted this. It was rather flat and uninspiring, not real distinguishable flavor other than a citrus note and it was a bit too hot for a real good 100% agave Tequila. ]]> Mon, 19 Jan 2009 01:14:39 +0000 <![CDATA[Puerto Vallarta Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=956 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=956 Tasted on 12/15/08. paid $22 dollars for a bottle. For what you pay, this really is a decent tequila. I like to think of it as the 'poor mans don julio anejo. It has a lot of the same characteristics, but that makes sense since they are both from Atotonilco. Not great, but very decent. Aroma: Strong hints of caramel and citrus. Initial Taste: Initially, a thin mouth feel, with hints of vanilla, and smoke. No bitterness at all. Body: Wood, agave, caramel, and a slight hint of grapefruit. Finish: Of medium to long duration with no alcohol burn. With a lingering grapefruit like taste. ]]> Mon, 29 Dec 2008 18:23:12 +0000
