The presentation is awesome, dodgy cork excepted. While I had always hoped for goodness to flow from this bottle, I am still in my early years of defining my preferred flavour profile. This Anejo is a real joy. From start to finish. If anyone is looking to treat themselves to a great example of an Anejo style, this would be a top pick. Caramel citrus on the nose with enough agave to pleasantly cut through in all departments. I can merrily sip on a glass, while nosing for hours. Well if the juice wasn't so tasty ;) Great tequila, I would have to agree with the other reviewers and recommend this delicious anejo, well done indeed. ]]> Sun, 06 Mar 2016 06:42:42 +0000 <![CDATA[Rey de Copas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2742 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=2742 The bottle design of Rey de Copas has had me intrigued for quite some time. I finally pulled the trigger after I found it on close out. The goblet shaped bottle with ash tray cap is unique and well thought out. I hope that the contents inside got as much effort. Aroma: A sweet and fruity nose with agave, some light baking spice and vanilla. There's a lot going on, but it's most on the sweet side. Initial Taste: Has a nice balance of vanilla, sweet berries and light spice. The cooked agave presence is still there as well. Body: Medium body. The oak and spice (nutmeg & cinnamon) come through mid-palate and add nice complexity to the initial sweetness. Finish: A nice, long linger with a combination of the sweetness and an oaky spice. It hangs around for a long duration and brings back most of flavors experienced throughout the drink. This is a good anejo. A little change of pace from a lot of them because of the fruit filled notes of this one. The agave and spice are light, but work really well. It's pretty well priced for what it is. I'd recommend this one for experienced tequila drinkers. Well done. ]]> Wed, 21 Nov 2012 02:57:07 +0000 <![CDATA[Rey de Copas Tequila Anejo: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1315 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/anejos/discussions/review.html?id=1315 This is a very nice anejo. First thing to notice is the unique presentation - a very cool looking bottle, with an ashtray top over the cork. Very unique touch. The nose is very pleasant: fruity, a hint of bubble gum, and a very subtle hint of citrus that seemed to vanish and then come back a couple different times. The initial taste is nice, and the body is a nice balance of vanilla and berry fruit with a very good agave presence. Probably my favorite part was the finish which had a flavor that I'd best describe as somewhere between a strawberry and a raspberry, yet definitely not too sweet or overstated. Very nice anejo. I'd recommend trying it if you have the chance. ]]> Thu, 17 Dec 2009 02:27:13 +0000
