Appearance: Pale amber color Aroma: Mild agave, oak and vanilla. Initial Taste: Sweet agave, oak, honey, and light spice flavors that are nicely balanced. Very smooth with no alcohol burn. Body: Medium-thin body with light tears on glass. Light buttery mouth feel that distributes the flavors nicely. Finish: Medium-length semi-sweet finish of agave, oak and spices. Price: RRP: $19.19 Presentation: Basic yet attractive bottle. This is a very smooth sipper with a nice reposado flavor for a “value” tequila. It goes down so easily that I finished the bottle before I remembered to make any tasting notes. Had to buy a second bottle to finish my “research.” For the money, it is hard to go wrong with this one. ]]> Sun, 26 Apr 2015 22:41:59 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Reposado: Don't pass this one up...]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=3165 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=3165 El Charro was sitting on the shelf for months beckoning me to take her home. I finally answered the call and am glad I did. Being German-Scottish, I seek a well-made value. Actually, in this economy, who doesn't? This cost $15.99 but is as good as many $40+ repos. The nose is so good my wife jumped back before her first sip. The feel is very smooth for this price point and the finish leaves virtually no burn. Good stuff. If you can find it at this price buy one for your neighbor too. ]]> Thu, 02 Jan 2014 20:13:18 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2382 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2382 A nice little brother to the anejo. Has all of the good qualities, but just isn't quite as smooth. Aroma: Agave, spice and wood. Initial Taste: Very solid reposado flavor. A nice sweet entry with a little bit of fruit and spice. Body: Medium body that coats the mouth nicely. More wood notes come through as it moves to the back of the mouth. Finish: A medium length finish where the spice (predominantly brown spices) make for a nice and pleasant sweet/spicy finish. I bought this bottle for $15 at Mission online. For that price, it's an absolute steal. The bottle is basic, but classy. For the price, I'd tell anyone to go out and get. Tequila drinkers would like it as a cheap every day sipper or mixer. Tequila rookies would probably be intrigued by its simple and easy to drink flavor profile. ]]> Sun, 25 Mar 2012 16:37:57 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2029 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2029 Nose: Earthy, vegetal, spicy, and alcohol. Initial taste: Not bad. A pretty good balance of sweet and bitter. I'd agree that it's a tad thin. Body: Nothing surprising here. All its flavors are well contained and pronounced. Finish: Medium-to-long with smoke and spice coming through. There's also a strange "twang" on the back-end that I can only describe as oyster-like. It's not as unappetizing as it sounds, but still not very good. Not my favorite, and not worth what I paid for it. I probably won't have it again, even though it came highly recommended (over Chinaco even...you've got to be kidding me). ]]> Tue, 16 Aug 2011 20:03:51 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1532 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1532 Dag nabbit! El Charro reposado is my favorite recent surprise! Reposados are my least favorite of any line. My last go to. But this reposado is worth noticing. Especially at $23 for a bottle! I just love this line. If you love the fruitiness of some tequilas, El Charro has got your number! Aroma: A very pleasant nose full of fruit and slight wood/cinnamon. Initial Taste: A thin mouth feel. Upon entry, it's sweet with no bitterness. With an initial taste of 'fruity oak'. Body: A definitive body of agave, fruit, and oak. Perfectly balanced. Finish: A semi heated finish of short duration. A lingering taste of that 'fruity oak' again. ]]> Thu, 13 May 2010 17:15:07 +0000 <![CDATA[El Charro Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=247 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=247 El Charro Reposado (Mixto)(Shown in this pic) ? NOM 1460 ? Tasted on 4/20/07 at 4:00pm. I tried this tequila, which cost me $8, at Zocalo and tasted it in a snifter glass. This tequilas quality versus price was below average. With a pale yellow color, this tequila has intense aromas of earth, floral, and spice. Other aromas include mild fruit and smoke. The tequila has a medium mouth feel and on the first sip is sweet with mild bitterness. El Charro Reposado?s intense aromas of earth are followed by moderate notes of fruit, floral, agave, and chemical notes. With a medium-to-long duration of flavor, tastes of mild spice and smoke bring this tequila to a hot numbing finish. El Charro Reposado has received the rating of 84 points out of 100. ]]> Sun, 17 Jun 2007 20:18:24 +0000
