After the first sip it went down pretty smoothly and was light on flavors and a pleasant after taste. It's not over powering but nicely light to sit back and relax. Needless to say, it was well worth the $36 for a Reposado. On the other hand, the Anejo has much more of a pleasant flavor and obviously smoother. Usually, I'm partial to Anejo Tequila's but I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing this one again. ]]> Wed, 12 Mar 2014 23:39:11 +0000 <![CDATA[El Mayor Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2608 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=2608 El Mayor is an interesting brand. Great bottle, good distribution, widely varying pricing...and opinions that are all over the map. I've had the anejo and thought it was pretty good...certainly worth trying the rest of the line if I could find the right price. I did...so here I go. Aroma: Agave, a bit of spice and oak. Nothing too special. Initial Taste: A pleasant entry with sweet agave, fruit, vanilla and a bit of spice. Basic, but nice. Body: Medium body that has nice oils. The oak comes in nicely and compliments the baking spice (cinnamon) and vanilla sweetness. Pretty well balanced. Finish: A medium finish with a nice balance of oak and agave with a bit of spice. This tequila is good, but not great. I think that it could really be used well as a crowd pleaser because it's not at harsh and has some nice agave notes with spice and aging. This is a really solid reposado. If you can get it for under $30...buy it. ]]> Wed, 08 Aug 2012 03:56:00 +0000 <![CDATA[El Mayor Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1934 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1934 El Mayor tequila reposado is a very decent 'B' grade tequila. IMHO, its not special, but its not bad. Out of the whole line, I think I prefer their blanco the best. Lets not forget that a B grade tequila is not bad, its very good, just not the greatest. Aroma: slight wood, slight cinnamon. Initial Taste: A slightly weak entry, no heat, no burn. A semi oily mouth feel. Initial taste of sweet agave. Body: A body with light tones of agave, wood, caramel, and cinnamon. Finish: A lightly heated finish. Definitely one a beginner wouldn't be afraid of, as its on the softer side. ]]> Sun, 01 May 2011 20:20:28 +0000 <![CDATA[El Mayor Tequila Reposado: ]]> https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1597 https://tequila.net/tequila-reviews/reposados/discussions/review.html?id=1597 This is a very smooth reposado, very good for shots or sipping and not a bad price, around 40.00 bucks ]]> Sun, 04 Jul 2010 22:18:44 +0000
