It has a nice nose and legs not usually found at the price. Nice agave and wood taste with slight hints of vanilla and white pepper. Its a bit bright but with a medium body with slight oilyness. this one came in at $16 and is a great value that mixes well but stands well as a sipper. I liked it and it deserves a place on the bar

The fact that I bought it again tells me I must have liked it.Has a great nose with agave and hints of vanilla. Ditto for the initial taste...vanilla,agave and a hints honey smoothness. This tequila has a great body...well rounded and the finish offers a nice even glow every time. Very enjoyable on its own or in a mix whether in a perfect margarita or a Vampiro shooter at room temperature. The price?...was right @ $24 a bottle. Great buy and I don't know why the packaging only gets an 88 overall... I liked it and give it a 95. Viva Dia de los Muertos motif!... Works for me.

Initial nose has a bright and peppery smell.Initial taste was also bright and oak filled with a secondary white pepper note with moderate agave flavor. Very good body but a little thin for what I'm used to in a reposado. Moderate smoothness but I've had smoother at the price. I don't do an initial response on enjoyability...I give it time and Corazon grew on me in time. Although not a great sipping tequila, it mixes well and in this regard, is a highly enjoyable tequila. At $25 per bottle, I would buy again but for the price there are better options. Presentation?... I liked the old packaging rather than the new bottle that it presently comes in.Still...not a bad choice.

I told the store owner I was from Kansas and was looking for something smooth to sip on over ice I don't find in Kansas. He said I have something that will only put you back $20 and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I'm not someone who like to make minute observations of every potential ingredient. I like a smooth sipping Tequila that's not overly spiced. This Tequila is very smooth to sip on with not a hint of pepper but has a little vanilla on the back of the tongue. No bite and a smooth finish.
I wish I wish I had bought several bottles because this one is about gone. I have tried many Reposado Tequilas that were priced at $60 to $90 the did not compare tooth's one.

I'm sad because all of the wonderful notes other reviewers mentioned are all here, but in such small background quantities and ONLY in the body. The nose has that "cheap tequila" vibe that we all know when we come across something that is 100% agave but still sub par. That same vibe is very present in the tail end of the finish. The body does hold the butterscotch and vanilla notes I crave from a tequila but they are almost an afterthought as the start and finish lines are a bit tainted. At right under $40 I'll pass on this bottle any day of the week.

Not a bad reposado, but overhyped and overrated in my view.

Let me explain. I first purchased the single barrel from ABC spirits and it was so amazing I purchased the rest of the case off the shelf. Barrel #317. Brutal amazing vanilla notes on the nose. People in the room who don't even drink went nuts over the nose on this. Initial taste is good and the body and mouth feel could be a bit more oily for my taste. Leave all that aside because the finish is glorious. All the vanilla on the nose comes flooding back in followed with an earthy, leathery vibe. It's almost like you feel as if you've had a slice of dessert after dinner.

Now the bad part about single barrel. Something this hand crafted has its discrepancies. The next bottles ABC got in were barrel 344. Still quite excellent and embodies all of the masterful qualities of this single barrel. Super clean from being a triple distilled tequila that's seen resting time in a brand new unused barrel. But NOT as good as 317. Still at the same $45 price as the normal reposed this stuff is better and an absolute bargain. As amazing as it is authentic.

There's a fruity undertone throughout - fruity nose, fruity entry - with a spicy bite as it sits on the tongue. Flavour is full agave, oak, more fruit, and spice, with a sustained heated spicy-fruity finish. Muchote is a big bold tasty reposado - it reminds me of Chinaco, but with less of Chinaco's signature frontal woodiness. Again, this is an amazing tequila - and at an amazing price!

This is a great tequila going in, very lush and buttery on the tongue. Taste is cooked agave coupled with fruity notes and that touch of caramel which give this repo a very uniquely rich flavour profile. The finish immediately begins with a terrific tingling on the tongue, followed by a long extended spicy heat - a fantastic finish that lingers almost forever, but there is a bitter raw agave/fruity note to the finish that may not be to everyone's liking. That said, this is very full-bodied, very delicious reposado.

Tasted in a NEAT glass on 12/28/2015. I was surprised by this the first time I tried it. I was not expecting much but found it very smooth, light, and tasty. Not much in the way of heat. Nose pretty much followed in line with the taste consisting of mild agave and sweetness. Very reminiscent of Centinela, although lighter. A lot of the same notes. A very pleasant finish with no bitterness and with a long enjoyable linger. A good everyday value pour with lots to like. I would think this would be a great introduction to sipping tequila for those who may be skeptical. A tequila you can kick back and relax with.

While I was reading these I was wondering if they were talking about the same tequila that I have been drinking recently. Perhaps quality control has changed and in recent years 1800 has improved dramatically. Just so you know a little about my drinking history, before this brand became one of my favorites, I was a dyed in the wool, Corralejo Reposado loyal consumer. If it wasn’t Corralejo, I didn’t drink it. When I drink tequilas, I’m not too interested in color, aroma or “presentation”. I am primarily interested in the taste. I don’t care if the color is like engine sludge or its aroma is like a country outhouse, I want a great taste. Start, body and finish. In the past I’ve tried several of the more popular tequilas including the king of advertising hype, Patron. A few tequilas that cost in excess of $100 per bottle. That was when I realized that cost did not equate with taste. In the end my latest personal opinion is that for my money, you can’t beat 1800 Reserve. The bottom line, in my humble opinion is that you can’t go wrong with 1800. If you are a novice, this is a great place to start. You will search long and hard to find a better tasting, smoother tequila. So if you’re looking for a great tasting tequila that is still easy on the pocket book, you can’t go wrong with 1800 Reserve.

But I really liked the different look of this tequila bottle so I was intrigued and had to find out for myself if what I read was true. So here is MY experience with Luna Malvada Reposado.

Aroma: Strong bold scent of caramel/honey.

Initial Taste: Spices and sweetness combined. Didn't burn my nose just smelling it, like some.

Body: It has a dry, smooth entry with the flavors of vanilla, zesty orange, spice and dried herbs.

Finish: A lasting sweet and smoky finish that lingers.

Overall I truly enjoyed this drink, pleasantly surprised and GLAD I tried it for myself. I will be putting this on my shelf to offer to friends and family. They did their homework and found a flavor that is truly amazing, and after some research... I found that they are the highest rated brand in the category. Glad I didn't go off of the recommendation of the other reviewer. I recommend this for a sophisticated drinker, not a tequila shooter. This one has class. So try it for yourself, it's the only way to know.

I picked this one up at my local Liquor store, for $45. and will try it in a shot glass. The aroma is mild with a bit of bitterness detected but no woodiness. Initial taste is pretty good but with a bit of heat, then it mellows into the finish which is very nice. a bit of spice and a hint of brown sugar but the taste is more on the herbal side. (horehound, licorice ) The body is medium and gets a better rating than the initial taste and aroma. The second sip is much smoother and the finish lingers much longer. This is a very enjoyable reposado and I will be buying it again when I finish this bottle. I would rate it higher if I could find it cheaper. but for now it's gonna get 90 points on the Tequila Richter scale.

It was a close out deal at a great price.( $22.00.from Old Town Liquor. JLP from a great distillery that knows how to make my favorite juice. This one is a light bodied repo. nice and smooth with a very nice lingering finish. similar to the excellent Clase Azul which costs way way more. (they also make The Clase Azul by the way) Have you tried their Casa Amigo repo? which is excellento. If you like a light bodied repo with a great agave finish then you would like JLP. Don't let the presentation fool you. this stuff is good at a great price. the presentation is going to bring the overall score down, but it still is a solid 91 plus.

Nose is agave, light wood, and a soft smoky citrus, which becomes richer and fruitier as it opens up. Mouthfeel is smooth and full, immediately very spiky on the tongue. Taste is agave, sweetly roasted, giving way to a wonderful spicy oaky lengthy finish and a tangy sweet after-finish. There's a subtle sugary roundness underneath everything which makes this tequila a deliciously balanced drinking experience. So far, this line has been nothing short of excellent.
