I'm sad because all of the wonderful notes other reviewers mentioned are all here, but in such small background quantities and ONLY in the body. The nose has that "cheap tequila" vibe that we all know when we come across something that is 100% agave but still sub par. That same vibe is very present in the tail end of the finish. The body does hold the butterscotch and vanilla notes I crave from a tequila but they are almost an afterthought as the start and finish lines are a bit tainted. This is a great tequila going in, very lush and buttery on the tongue. Taste is cooked agave coupled with fruity notes and that touch of caramel which give this repo a very uniquely rich flavour profile. The finish immediately begins with a terrific tingling on the tongue, followed by a long extended spicy heat - a fantastic finish that lingers almost forever, but there is a bitter raw agave/fruity note to the finish that may not be to everyone's liking. A wonderful nose of cooked agave with subtle hints of fruit and spice with just a whisp of butterscotch. It reminds me of older NOM 1079 products - maybe it's the tahona. The taste is less complex than the nose, but still very pleasant - mostly cooked agave and that little bit of butterscotch still present, and maybe a floral aspect coming through. There is little-to-no oak present for me, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The body has a medium weight with nice mouth feel and coating. It has a well-balanced finish of medium heat and duration, with a lingering aftertaste of somewhat raw agave, but there is still the cooked flavor as well, so again, well-balanced. This is a very nice tequila for both new and experienced sippers alike. It lets the agave shine through so that newbies can develop that recognition, but it also has enough complexity for seasoned sippers to get some interesting notes to ponder. The people behind it are passionate, knowledgeable and know how to market. The design of the bottle makes it stick out on the shelves and is as clever as it is attractive. I've had the blanco and it was very good. I even noted that I think that it was a profile that I thought would age well. Let's see... Price: $40-45/bottle Aroma: The nose really fills up the glass with notes of cooked agave, caramel and light fruit. Initial Taste: A really nice combo of cooked agave sweetness and caramel. There's a fruitiness that rounds it out as well. Body: A nice and oily body that coats the palate well. It's a great combination of rich agave, butterscotch, oak, fruit and spice. A lot of flavors, but very well balanced. Finish: A long finish that lets you taste all of the flavors at different points and has a nice punch of agave to boot. It's almost like a sequence of all of the aforementioned flavors that dare you to find each one. A unique and wonderful ending. I always say that the toughest thing for a tequila company to do is make a really good reposado. Suerte absolutely nails it with this one. There's plenty of agave, but there's also a ton of character from the barrel aging. There's a little something for everyone and the finish is one of the best that I've had in recent memory. I wish that I could find this in my area, but luckily there's places like DrinkUPNY that will deliver it to you for $39.99.
