November 5, 2007 (El Paso, TX) – Dos Lunas Tequila today announced the launch of Dos Lunas Grand Reserve, an Extra Añejo that breaks new ground in the luxury tequila category. Dos Lunas Grand Reserve is not only the world’s first commercially available tequila to be aged over 10 years (in sherry oak casks), it is also the only tequila to be bottled in hand-blown, individually numbered Baccarat decanters. Each decanter is housed in an equally luxurious ebonized wood box with an accompanying crystal stopper and sterling silver key and necklace. Dos Lunas Grand Reserve has a retail price of $2,500.
Like all Dos Lunas tequilas, Grand Reserve is harvested from 100% fully mature blue agave plants. Because the plants only reach maturity after 8 to 10 years, the entire production process for Dos Lunas Grand Reserve is nearly 20 years. Says Dos Lunas founder Richard C. Poe II, “In many ways Grand Reserve is closer to the finest single malts and cognacs than to other tequilas. We set out to create the world’s best tequila and that goal informed every decision that was made, from growth through production to packaging.” The result is an Extra Añejo of remarkable complexity, unparalleled smoothness and luxurious presentation – a tequila that sets a new standard for the category.
Launch parties at the Baccarat boutiques in Houston (Nov.1), New York (Nov. 8), and Dallas (Nov.14) will unveil Dos Lunas Grand Reserve, which will be available for purchase in November through select retailers across the country and via totalbeverage.net, shoppersvineyard.com, and argonautliquor.com.
About Dos Lunas
Dos Lunas was founded in 2005 by Richard Poe, an El Paso-based businessman with a passion for tequila. “My goal was to create the smoothest, most refined tequila in the world,” says Poe. Distilled and bottled in the heart of Jalisco, in Guadalajara, Dos Lunas tequilas are harvested from fully mature 100% Blue Agave plants and are all-natural, with no chemical additives or artificial coloring. All Dos Lunas products are fermented using natural yeast, a process that takes up to five times longer and is rarely found in today’s world of spirits. Dos Lunas Silver ($44.99) and Dos Lunas Reposado ($49.99) were released in 2006, and the latter was awarded the gold medal in the prestigious International Review of Spirits competition in Chicago, IL later that year. A fourth member of the portfolio, Dos Lunas Añejo, will debut in 2008.
