Patron Reveals Extra-Anejo Tequila Gran Patron Piedra

Patron Spirits is set to release Gran Patron Piedra, its first extra-anejo Tequila, exclusively into global travel retail.

The limited edition Tequila, aged for more than three years in new American and French oak barrels, will be unveiled at the IAADFS show in Orlando next month.

Produced using 100% Weber blue agave and the traditional Tahona process (steam-cooked agave is crushed using a large Tahona stone wheel) and bottled at 40% abv, Gran Patron Piedra is described as having fruit, fresh mushroom and light citrus on the nose with a “sweet, yet rich and complex” taste with earthy, herbaceous agave notes.

“We created Gran Patrón Piedra to offer tequila aficionados a tasting experience unlike any other,” said Francisco Alcaraz, Patrón’s master distiller. “Its complex flavor profile and remarkably smooth finish sets Gran Patrón Piedra apart in the ultra-aged tequila category.”

The release is presented in a signed and numbered bottle inspired by the Tahona stone, and a gift box that converts into a display case.

“We’re thrilled about the extraordinary addition of Gran Patrón Piedra to our portfolio of ultra-premium spirits, and our first-ever duty free exclusive,” said John McDonnell, chief operating officer of Patrón Spirits. “Travel retail represents an important and significant sales channel for us, and we’re excited to make this exquisite spirit available first to our valued duty free partners and consumers.”

Patron has not yet released an RRP for the duty-free exclusive, but claims it will fit between its Gran Patron Platinum and Gran Patron Burdeos.
