The nose has alcohol, but not acetone or anything unpleasant; I don't know how long this bottle had been open. There is some agave, but mostly tropical fruit and spices like anise - very typical 1079 aromas. Upon entry, it is very tingly on the tip of the tongue, yet sweet with more fruit, spice, and now sweet spearmint. Body is medium oily and feels quite nice. The finish has a lingering heat and a vegetal aftertaste that sneaks up - a nice surprise.
The burn and intense flavors may not be for everyone, but for an experienced tequila drinker this really hits the mark. And for the price, you will be hard pressed to find a better, more complex, reposado. It is kind of an odd shaped bottle that isn't the most functional, but I can overlook that for good juice.
