Purchased a bottle at Top Line Spirits in Glendale for $34. Tasted out of a snifter 11/17/08. The Don Julio line is what I consider my 'go to' line. Most places carry it so I can always count on it. I consider their line extremely consistent and a great value. Don Julio blanco was also the first 100% agave tequila I tried way back in 2003. I liked it then, I like it even more now.

Aroma: A light yet present creamy nose of dill and citrus.
Initial Taste: A semi oily mouth feel. A slightly creamy entry with no bitterness or alcohol burn. Initial taste was a slight pepper and citrus.
Body: an excellent agave body. Not overpowering, and not too subtle, with hints of citrus, pepper, and floral.
Finish: A very pleasant unheated finish of medium duration with a lingering citrus aftertaste.

Tasted in a caballito on March 24, 2008 showing clear lasting legs on the glass.

Don Julio Blanco

Color: clear
Aroma: floral
Taste: flower salad with ground black pepper and light on the tongue

I enjoy the light blanco mouthfeel of the Don Julio Blanco, though I enjoy a more fiery Tequila than the floral taste.

Disappointed with the presentation as the bulbous bottle is nice, but the wood cap hides a plastic screw top. For the price and history of the Don Julio Blanco I would expect a corked bottle.

For blancos I would much rather drink either the Chinaco, Corralejo or the El Diamante Del Cielo. My current top three blanco picks as of the writing of this review.

Don Julio Tequila Blanco, NOM 1449. This tequila has a clean, unpronounced, almost neutral agave nose. The initial taste is sweet spicy pepper & slightly hot. The body is complex, slightly antiseptic, with very deep spice, citrus & earthy agave flavors. It is also very crisp, clean & smooth without any alcohol burn, prevalent in many other tequilas of lesser refinement. The finish is light, similar to the aroma, with a hint of black pepper.
This is one of my favorite Margarita tequilas with a slick, almost surfactant taste/finish. B+/A, top shelf.

Don Julio Blanco - NOM 1449 - Tasted 2/16/07. The tequila is clear in color with intense earthy and smokey aromas followed by moderate-to-intense aromas of floral, spice, and chocolate. A soft mellow entry leads to a low sweet taste, with low-to-moderate bitterness and moderate-to-heavy agave taste. While there is only moderate agave flavor, the tequila has intense earthy and floral. The tequila finishes with a short duration of flavor and a tingly alcohol finish. Overall, I gave the tequila a "B."
