For $11 I would expect this tequila to be on par with Jose Cuervo but, this is a 100% de agave reposado - Not bad and very good in a margarita or other mixed drink or as a shot with a beer chaser. This is going to be my new go to tequila for my home made margaritas

Zapopan repo from Trader Joe's for $10. Had to give it a try. Not bad at all. Definitly a repo and way better than Sauza Hornitos. Not quite sipping quality but the finish was pleasant enough, and it was great in mixed drinks. Plus the bottle was 1 liter. I would buy it anytime over the sauza and for ten bucks it might just be the best cheap repo going. Be sure and ask your doctor if Zapopan is right for you. Overall rating of almost 87

It is a good mixing Tequila. I had just came back from a trip to Mexico where I discovered this nice little bar that served what it claimed to be their own brand of Tequila. Turned out to be Tiquilito. Is was super smooth and had a nice taste.
When I came back to the US, I was hard pressed to find a good sub for Tiquilito once my bottle ran out.
I found Zapopan to be a very close relative.
So do I recommend it a as sipping Tequila, no. But as mjfuller53 put it, good in any margarita or any Tequila cocktail.
Enjoy

Tasted in a Reidel glass on 10/17/13. Zapopan is the least expensive 100% agave tequila I have ever seen or know of. It retails for $9.99 at Trader Joe's. So unless it's the absolute worst tequila you've ever tasted, then you have to give it a high rating for "price." I believe generally that you get what you pay for. This is certainly not a great or even good tequila. It's tolerable. In a margarita i don't think most people would know the difference. I just can't say it's the worst tequila I've ever tasted. I can detect the usual hints of vanilla, caramel, and a little wood, but the taste is a bit obscured by the strong alcohol taste and burn. That said it could be worse. Like I said it's tolerable in a margarita. A little extra lime juice and you'd never tell the difference between Zapopan and much better tequila. I should observe also a local restaurant here, that no doubt thinks of themselves as an upper middle rung restaurant, uses Zapopan in their margaritas de casa. I won't make a habit out of buying this juice because I have too much pride. But you can always keep a bottle around for when your least favorite relatives stop by unannounced. As always, Salud.
