Tequila ArteNOM Seleccion de 1414 Reposado

Arandas, Jalisco (Mountain Agave - Altitude = 5,400')
Tequila ArteNOM Seleccion de 1414 Reposado is 100% Blue Weber Agave and contains no additives whatsoever. It rests in previously used American white oak bourbon barrels for 10 months.

Feliciano Vivanco began cultivating highland Agave during Mexico's tumultuous post-revolutionary period of 1919-1929. In Don Feliciano's hometown of Arandas, Jalisco, the next four generations of the Vivanco family remained devoted to expanding the family's Agave plantations and in 1994 the family dream of acquiring their own Arandas distillery was finally realized with the purchase of the "Destilería El Ranchito." With approximately 2,000 acres of estate-grown Agave (elev. 5,400') at their disposal, the Vivanco family has since become renown for producing rich, well-balanced tequilas created by marrying honored distillation traditions with modern innovation.

Tequila ArteNOM presents aficionados with the personal selections of artisan Tequila distillers. These distinctive, limited release Selecciones are carefully chosen to reflect the best of Tequila craftsmanship by highlighting Agave altitude, soil, harvest and unique distillation technique. We invite you to savor these personal distillers' selections and celebrate their art of distinction, the Art of their NOM. No two ArteNOM Selecciones will ever be the same.

Some tequilas need a few sittings before they can be fully appreciated. Nose is agave, light wood, and a soft smoky citrus, which becomes richer and fruitier as it opens up. Mouthfeel is smooth and full, immediately very spiky on the tongue. Taste is agave, sweetly roasted, giving way to a wonderful spicy oaky lengthy finish and a tangy sweet after-finish. There's a subtle sugary roundness underneath everything which makes this tequila a deliciously balanced drinking experience. So far, this line has been nothing short of excellent.

This is a very good tequila. Well packaged, good flavor and just a nice tequila experience. But it just lacked a little extra something would make it great for me.

Aroma: A nice agave, wood and spice mix. Very pleasant smell.
Initial taste: Agave sweetness with hints of vanilla and spice.
Body: A nice medium and easy to drink body. The wood becomes more evident as it gets to the back of the palate. All of the flavors mix nicely.
Finish: A long finish that lingers a while with the alcohol and spice. Maybe a bit too much for some, but it was fine for me.

All in all, a nice tequila. Not my favorite, but I'd encourage people to try it because it's smooth, has nice complexities and I think that's it's entirely possible that some people may really LOVE this tequila.
